The Whitpain Walkers is a weekly walking club that meets at various walking trails in the area. This program is ideal for individuals who want to walk with others, begin and/or continue a walking routine, discover great walking trails nearby, or are just looking for something new to do during the day! The walking club is a non-competitive group that encourages healthy lifestyles, exercise, being in nature, and socializing with others. Whitpain Walkers will meet Wednesdays and Fridays at 9am. Come when you can!This program is for adults 18+ and open to all levels and abilities. Leashed (friendly!) dogs permitted on most walks, unless otherwise stated.An email is sent to registered participants Monday or Tuesday each week detailing the exact meeting location for that particular week. Please make sure you "opt-in" to receive general email announcements from the parks and rec department.

The Soccer Starters program is aimed at providing best-in-class soccer training for your kids. A perfect introduction to soccer basics, children learn the fundamental skills needed to progress as players, while gaining valuable experience in teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness. Each player receives a t-shirt and certificate of completion.Participants should wear sneakers, shin guards, and comfortable clothes, and bring a bottle of water.

We are excited to bring back the Big Rig Round-Up! This year, the event will be held on September 24 at Montgomery County Community College.NEW THIS YEAR! We are offering a "minimal noise" hour from 5 pm - 6 pm. During this time, we are requesting no horns/sirens. Parents, please help us maintain an inclusive environment and ensure your children don't honk horns during this time. Thank you for your cooperation. Get an up close look at the unique trucks and equipment used by the local fire, police, and public works departments. Boys and girls have a blast learning hockey fundamentals and playing games. Players are taught forehand and backhand passing and trapping, stick handling, shooting, defending, and goal keeping. They then play fun oriented, low competition games to help them learn team concepts. This is an excellent introductory program for children with little or no hockey experience. No equipment necessary.

Instructor: Marsha Gayl, Registered Horticultural Therapist (HTR)Marsha is recognized as a Registered Horticultural Therapist by the American Horticultural Therapy Association.  Marsha developed her expertise as a student at Temple University and by working at Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital, where she utilized physical and occupational therapy modalities to restore patients’ cognitive skills. She also has developed a lecture to educate about the adaptive tools that are available and proper body mechanics so gardeners can continue to do what they love. Marsha provides Horticultural therapy programming for senior living communities, floral design programs for the general public, and gardening and nature programs for children, as well as currently runs a program at Belmont Hospital Northeast.

The walking club is a non-competitive group that encourages healthy lifestyles, exercise, being in nature, and socializing with others. Whitpain Walkers will meet Wednesdays and Fridays at 9am. Come when you can!This program is for adults 18+ and open to all levels and abilities. Leashed (friendly!) dogs permitted on most walks, unless otherwise stated.An email is sent to registered participants Monday or Tuesday each week detailing the exact meeting location for that particular week. Please make sure you "opt-in" to receive general email announcements from the parks and rec department.

The Soccer Starters program is aimed at providing best-in-class soccer training for your kids. A perfect introduction to soccer basics, children learn the fundamental skills needed to progress as players, while gaining valuable experience in teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical fitness. Each player receives a t-shirt and certificate of completion.Participants should wear sneakers, shin guards, and comfortable clothes, and bring a bottle of water.
 
6:00 PM - 9:00 PM    Hayrides at Prophecy Creek Park - Hayrides at Prophecy Creek Park
Join us for Hayrides at Prophecy Creek Park! Hay wagons take passengers to the upper field for a bonfire, a spooky storyteller, and a witch serving up hot cider out of a cauldron! A fun, festive, family event!Glow necklaces are provided by Whitpain Police Association on a first come, first served basis. Wagons do a continuous loop throughout the evening - get on the wagon after you pay and enjoy the ride to the bonfire. When you're ready to leave, hop on the next wagon that will take you back down to the main entrance. Wagons pick-up passengers every 10-15 minutes. Last wagon leaves the parking lot at 8:45pm. Last wagon leaves the bonfire at 9pm.

FREE event for the whole family!!Get those doggy costumes ready and join us for the Fourth Annual Barktoberfest at Whitpain Dog Park!Check-in for the costume contest starts at 10 am and costumes will be judged at 10:30 am.Meet & Greet Adoptable Pups from Home at Last Dog Rescue (10 am - 12 pm).Prizes and treat samples provided by Doodle Delights.
