Schools out!... Doesn't mean we have to stop learning.

STEM instructors from Mad Science are back for a fun schools out program!

About Mad Science:
For over 30 years, they have delivered unique, hands-on science experiences for children through their after-school programs, birthday parties, workshops, special events, and summer camps. Their innovative programs are as entertaining as they are educational!

Chemical Curiosities/Jr. Geologist
Morning Topic: Chemical Curiosities
Mix up potions and experiment with all kinds of chemical reactions! Combine chemicals to create exothermic reactions, examine our non-Newtonian fluid, make your own sidewalk chalk and crystal gardens to take home!

Afternoon Topic: Jr. Geologist
Calling all Junior Geologists! Unearth the rock cycle and discover the difference between sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks. Replicate rumbling earthquakes and explosive volcanoes, pan for gems, and create a sedimentary stacker to take home!

Eureka - Science Fiction (Light Sabers to Lasers)/Eureka - Shipwrecked!
Morning Topic: Eureka - Science Fiction - Light Sabers to Lasers
Inventing means reaching for the stars! The children build wind-up space stations, and design safety capsules for payloads returning from space. They race in a robotic relay, and learn about microgravity, rockets, and space stations. The camp culminates in children building their own sci-fi inspired light sticks that they can take home, along with their dreams of the future!

Afternoon Topic: Eureka - SHIPWRECKED!!
Inventing means survival! A deserted island is the scene for this day filled with problem-solving and adventure! Children witness a volcanic eruption, and learn how magnets can help search for shipwrecks. They have to work together to design and build bridges and boats to eventually escape the island and find their way home.

Creative Chemist - Building with Bonds/Jr. Geologist
Morning Topic: Creative Chemists - Building with Bonds
Become a creative chemist through the investigation of the periodic table and the atoms that make up everything around us! Make chemical connections between different atomic models using bonds to construct molecules. Whether it is long stretchy chains of molecules in the form of silly putty or structured atoms in the form of crystal gardens, find out how chemistry connects the world.

Slimey Science & Smokey Ice/Shocking Science
Morning Topic: Slimey Science & Smokey Ice
Build model molecules, copper-plate a nickel, and make your very own ooey gooey Mad Science slime and putty to take home! Witness fantastic dry ice demonstrations with smoking & bubbling flasks

Afternoon Topic: Shocking Science
Shocking fun awaits! Join us while we build simple circuits, make buzzers buzz, test our nerves, tinker with electromagnets, and even see a Van de Graaff generator create indoor lightning!

NASA: Stem Explorers/Mad Machines
Morning Topic: NASA: Stem Explorers
Developed in partnership with NASA, we will think and act like NASA innovators during this hands-on program inspired by NASA OPSPARC. After receiving you mission notebook, you will design and build a Mars Rover. Your rover will be tested over various obstacles to ensure it can navigate Mars’ brutal terrain. From mission patches to engineering for space NASA Roving Rovers is out of this world!

Afternoon Topic: Mad Machines
Discover simple machines! Unravel the power of pulleys, build catapults and claw grabber devices! We’ll compile all that we’ve learned & build our own Mad Science Drag Racers to race and take home!

LEGO - BRIXology - Creatures/LEGO - BRIXology - Carnivals
Morning Topic: LEGO - BRIXology - Creatures
Explore the science and engineering that lets humans invent new things based on solutions found in nature! Through the engineering design process become bioengineers solving problems with biomimicry. Put together a wind-up peacock puzzle that can move to take home!

Afternoon Topic: LEGO - BRIXology - Carnivals
Explore the science and engineering that lets humans design and build exciting rides at carnivals and amusement parks. Through the engineering design process become mechanical engineers solving problems with creative solutions. Construct a miniature swinging viking ship ride to take home.
